Photo Tip- Subject and Background

February 25, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

Next time you’re framing up a photo pay close attention to the distance between your subject and the background. In the above photo the model is right up against the house. Not a terrible result but by positioning her out a few meters we achieve a much more pleasing effect.

(Note- as with anything subjective this isn’t a hard, fast RULE. There are some instances where close proximity to a background is desired, but more often than not you’ll find separation is the way to go).

For more on how to get the most out of your DSLR listen to The Two Hosers Photo Show, available on iTunes or at www.twohosers.com.
